But if the zombies were just the random result of some mutant gene, or a rage-infected monkey bite, they wouldn’t have a leader, and since they’re too stupid to work together, I don’t think they’d be as much of a threat. Because we all know: you can’t wreak havoc without teamwork.

All it takes to bring down a zombie is a blow to the head. Aliens, on the other hand, require driving around with speakers blaring songs with yodeling in them. Oh wait, that was Mars Attacks…

I think aliens would wreak far more havoc than exponentially multipliable zombies, whatever the zombie type. My reasoning is this: Zombies are really stupid humans running on subconscious impulse, usually hunger for “Brraaaiiinnnsss!!!” or warm human flesh. Aliens are from some other place and must be fairly intelligent, not to mention advanced, to get here. Because of this, the aliens would have technologies far in advanced of what we have, and therefore would have multiple methods of havoc wreaking. For example, the aliens could simply sit in high orbit and drop missiles and kinetic weapons on our little planet, or they could sweep in low and bombard the planet with plasma, or they could go off into our asteroid belt, find something nice and big, and throw it at us. This would be the pure destruction kind of havoc. Invaders would have to be a little more subdued in their approach, for the reason that they need something to invade, and an invader needs to take something home with him from the invasion. It is rather difficult to do this when you have boiled the oceans and glassed the continents. So invaders would utilize other techniques, such as giant robots armed to the seams with advanced weaponry, destroying monuments with massive starship based weaponry, or deploying a zombie maker of their very own. Because a population of zombies with the subconscious impulse to “Serve Master, Eat Non-Master Brraaaiiinnnsss!” would be mush easier than to have to deal with pesky uprisings, rebellions and Resistance groups bent on removing you from the planet.
