Definitely, MaybeMovie Review by Perry Pannu:

Definitely, Maybe
In Theatres Today

First off, I have to say I think Ryan Reynolds is one of the coolest actors I’ve never met. With humble beginnings on the small screen, this Canadian favourite showed his chops in small roles for various shows before earning his own sitcom ‘Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place.” He’s smoothly moved on to a great movie career since then, so I was naturally excited about his new film.

As 30-something Will Hayes in this romantic comedy, Reynolds’ character is introduced as he is being served divorce papers. We quickly meet his daughter Maya as he picks her up from school and shortly after that begins, to be honest, the longest ‘love mystery (as advertised in the trailer)’ I have ever seen. Sitting through this movie is difficult. I started out caring about all the characters, and then slowly, one by one, I simply lost interest. I just wanted it to end. Buwwwt I really did want to like it.

Reynolds works with some recognizable stars in this movie. The three loves of his life (and the subjects of the great mystery) are played by Elizabeth Banks (from the TV show Scrubs and most recently the movie Fred Claus) as the dependable girl next-door Emily, Rachel Weisz (from The Constant Gardener) as the free-spirited but ambitious journalist Summer, and Isla Fisher (from The Wedding Crashers) as longtime best friend and confidante April. Abigail Breslin (from Little Miss Sunshine) plays the 10-year-old daughter who has to guess which one of these women is her mother.

Despite the disconnection I felt as I sat through the entire movie, I was satisfied with the outcome. The ending was good…it just took a really long time to get there. I recommend definitely renting this movie when it comes out on DVD. At least at home, you can stop it, and watch it in pieces over a few days. Maybe his next film will definitely be better.
