Movie Review by Perry Pannu:
Good Luck Chuck stars comedian Dane Cook and super-hot actress Jessica Alba. Dane Cook is hilarious, especially when he goes off the script (or when it seems like he’s going off the script). He has impeccable timing and those are some of the funniest moments in the movie. Even the expression on his face makes me laugh. Jessica Alba is surprisingly very funny as well. Who knew a girl that beautiful can be so good at physical comedy? The best part of the movie is that the trailer doesn’t ruin all the funny parts by showing them all. There are some dirty, nasty scenes that only grown-ups can appreciate (the film is rated R). The story is simple and easy to follow, and it will hold your suspension of disbelief until the very end of the film, which is not an easy task (that’s impressive to me). I have to admit though, that I am biased as I’m a huge fan of both Dane Cook and Jessica Alba. Both of them could have sat there and read the phone book to each other and I still would have found it hilarious. But I really think everyone should go see this movie. It’s what I like to call a gumball movie. It has no point, smooth like a gumball. You don’t have to think about it, just like chewing a gumball. It’s fairly entertaining compared to the price, like a gumball. And just like the flavour running out in 10 minutes after chewing a gumball, you will forget you saw this movie until you see it on the shelf at the store when it comes out on DVD. Sometimes you just need a gumball movie to kill time. A note of caution: This is not a family movie. It’s basically a T&A movie much like the kind they used to make in the 80’s and as long as you know what it is that you are going to go see, I recommend going to see it in the theatres on hot ticket Tuesday.
